Bio Robert has been a professional photographer for 9 years. He studied photography and fine art at various schools across the country and graduated with a BA in Studio Art at Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey. He studied photography under Rick Bruner at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV and under Kurt Fishback at American River College in Sacramento, CA. Robert studied fine art under many instructors at Flagler College, Shepherd College, Los Rios Community College District, and California State University Sacramento. Robert began his career in photography as an Air Force photographer. The position was as a generalist photographing a multitude of subject matter as per the needs of the air bases where he was stationed. But the area that intrigued Robert the most was the photojournalistic opportunities. As a result Robert has been published in several Air Force publications. After his enlistment with the Air Force, Robert gave his hand as an aircraft mechanic for the Coast Guard but found the job a great disappointment. He continued shooting and studying on his own and through this period solidified in his heart and mind that he should again pursue photography as a profession. Once his enlistment with the Coast Guard was complete, Robert opened his own business and also joined the California National Guard to work as a photojournalist. He covered stories for the State until he deployed to Kuwait for a one-year tour as a multimedia illustrator. Upon his return Robert reopened his business. Along with his professional pursuit as a photographer, Robert never forgot the fact that he is an artist. The creation endeavor is in his bones and he has even taken up the brush to release that energy. All through his travels Robert explored and documented the places he visited. He began with the pursuit of photographing people, landscapes and nature with the occasional eye for the abstract. But in 2001, as his focus narrowed to the birth of is son, so did his perception of the natural world. As his time was now limited from going out to photograph the grandiose and magnificence of nature he began to look more closely at the details of the world available to him. With this new perception of his environment Robert created several bodies of abstract work that, though they may not be photojournalistic, they still tell stories. You may view his fine art images at www.robertscottphotography.com, which may be purchased for one's art collection or for stock. | ||||||||||||||||||
